Mantra series – Vidya Mantra
In my last article which was beginning of the Mantra Series, I had mentioned that I will be introducing different Mantras. These mantras can be used in everyday life and manifest what we want in life. Each of these mantras are done for a specific purpose, for achieving something in life.
In this series, I will be giving the meaning for these Mantras in detail. This is because I believe until and unless we understand and do things, it will not give the desired results. This understanding is for our conscious mind. Without understanding, our conscious mind puts doubt in everything we do. So it is very important to satisfy this ever doubting, ever questioning mind. And once we understand the meaning and then do the chanting of a Mantra, we know exactly what we are doing and for what purpose. Otherwise it is just mechanically chanting, achieving nothing. Today we discuss Vidya Mantra.
In recent times, post pandemic, I have been receiving numerous inquiries regarding children sitting home for so long, and not able to concentrate on studies, not able to retain what they study and so on and so forth. Today I am giving detail of a very simple, yet very powerful Vidya mantra for anybody who is facing difficulty in studies, memory retention or for that matter, not able to give up vices or bad habits of any kind.
The Vidya mantra is:
Yaa Shraddha Dhaarnaa Medhaa, Vaagdevi Vidhi Vallabha
Bhakt Jivhaagra Sadnaa, Shamaadi Gun Daayinee.
( या श्रद्धा धारणा मेधा, वाग्देवी विधिवल्लभा, भक्त जिव्हाग्र सदना शमादि गुण दायिनी। )
Meaning of Vidya Mantra in detail:
Yaa Shraddha – that female deity who is embodiment of reverence, respect, veneration and who gives an alert mind to learn
Dharnaa – whom we accept as giver of ability to retain in memory
Medhaa – IQ, intelligence, sharp memory
Vaagdevi – who is the form of speech, voice, oratory, communication ability
Vidhi vallabha – who is consort of Brahma, the creator
Bhakt Jivhaagra Sadnaa – who reside on the tip of the tongue of the devotee
Shamaadi Gun Daayinee – who gives the virtue of sense control.
In totality the meaning of Vidya Mantra, thus is: We pray to that Goddess (Saraswati) who is embodiment of reverence, respect, veneration and whom we accept as giver of intelligence, sharp memory, retention power and who is the form (Goddess) of speech, who is consort of Brahma the creator, who reside on the tip of the tongue of her devotee, and who bestows the virtue of sense control.
This is Vidya Mantra of Goddess Saraswati, known as Vidya devi. Without the blessings of Saraswati, success in educational pursuits is not possible. Any kind of learning or acquisition of knowledge is not possible without the blessings of Saraswati. And any success be it education, profession, material or spiritual growth in life is not possible without having control over our senses, for which again, Saraswati has to bless. Chanting of this Vidya Mantra daily morning and evening with full faith, concentration and understanding will bestow Saraswati blessings.
